Penn Forest supervisors add foreman, okay pumping plans are working – Times News Online

Penn Forest Township supervisors created a new full-time foreman position for the roads crew at a special meeting held May 16. It was agreed that the position would be posted to the union’s board of directors, and if there were no takers, it would then be advertised. Pay is $23 per hour to start with a raise with good performance after three months.

Hopes to add a pump track to the township park took a major first step with supervisors accepting awards from Barry Isett & Associates for the engineering and tender phase works, 9 $900. An earlier price was $6,100 higher, so the job was reduced.

Supervisors purchased a 2022 Honda Pioneer 700 UTV from R&D Powersports of Palmerton to use at the township park to slide fields, haul materials and haul a water tank. The golf cart currently in use could not do these things. The cost of the UTV is $12,860, plus an extra for slick tires that had to be specially ordered. Delivery is scheduled for the second week of June.

The maintenance agreement for the Rital plan to add gas pumps to Sunny’s Quick Mart on Route 534 has been approved. New fuel pumps and tanks are to be installed this summer.

Due to the need for more space on the township servers, it was proposed to delete the oldest of the Zoom videos after the meetings were transcribed. Supervisor Christian Bartulovich objected. He was the only one to vote against deletion as needed with Roger Meckes, Scott Lignore and Pat Holland voting yes. Tom Cross was absent.

The supervisors unanimously agreed to send all members of the township road and transfer station crews for flagman training on June 16, at a cost of $50 each.

For the transfer station, the design of the salt shed building has arrived.
