How to Track R350 SASSA Grant Application Status on Whatsapp [Video]

The Ministry of Social Development announcement that recipients of the COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant should reapply for assistance as it will now be paid under a new legislative framework

YOU DON’T KNOW HOW TO FOLLOW YOUR APPLICATION?

The National State of Disaster, which facilitated the SRD grant, ended in April 2022. However, the Ministry of Social Development has been working on a regulatory framework for the disbursement of the grant since President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the extension of the grant. .

The new legislative framework for the SASSA R350 grant has additional qualification and assessment criteria, which is why grantees must reapply if they have previously received support.

“Fortunately, the entire application system remains a purely digital process, allowing for quick access and turnaround times,” the department said.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT APPLICATION RENEWAL:

Applications can be made through the SASSA SRD website – https://srd.sassa.gov.za.

Other application channels will be made available in due course.

The department said applicants will be considered for the SASSA R350 grant from the month in which the application is made and will be validated each month.

Once you have submitted your application, you can follow it on Whatsapp.

This is one of the few platforms that SASSA has given applicants as an option to track the status of their applications.

Just follow these six easy steps:

  • Add 082 046 8553 as contact
  • Open your WhatsApp and refresh your contacts
  • Open a conversation with the number (082 046 8553) you saved
  • Send a message to the number saying “status”.
  • You will now be able to check the progress of your grant.
  • Once your chat is received, you will then be required to provide your ID number and the mobile phone number you used when applying for the grant.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) said payments for the novel COVID-19 Distress social relief allowance (SRD) would be carried out from mid-June 2022.

GRANT R350 TO BE PAID FROM MID-JUNE

Millions of South Africans who depend on social assistance were forced to reapply for the grant after the state of disaster expired and the grant was transferred to a new legislative framework in April 2022.

Sassa said those who have reapplied and been approved will receive the R350 grant from mid-June under the new cycle.

“SASSA will continue to settle overdue payments from the previous cycle as bank details are confirmed.

“The payments will not be made together but will be made month by month.

“More than one payment can be made per month, but no one will receive duplicate payments.”

This presumably means that money owed to beneficiaries could be paid several times in a month, but no payment will be greater than R350.
