Heavy rain still on track for Pasadena Monday – Pasadena Now

Pasadena will get a much-needed dose of rain Monday, with a storm delivering up to 1.5 inches — possibly seasoned with small hail — according to the National Weather Service.

A Pacific storm system moved closer to the region on Sunday evening and is expected to bring widespread rain, high-altitude snow and gusty winds through Tuesday morning before drier conditions prevail Tuesday through Friday. , said the NWS.

“The driving rain, sometimes heavy, is likely to create additional slowdowns and delays for the Monday morning journey – it could be a very difficult journey. Motorists are reminded that especially when rain begins after being dry for a long time, oil and other materials on the road surface can produce extremely slippery road conditions when mixed with the falling rain,” said Jonathan Porter, chief meteorologist for AccuWeather.

Moderate rain rates are expected Monday morning, with more regular showers expected by Monday afternoon. Forecasters said between half an inch and 1.5 inches of rain is possible in the valleys, with one to three inches possible in the foothills and mountains.

A winter storm watch will be in effect through Monday evening in the Los Angeles County mountains north of Pasadena where heavy snowfall was possible, with accumulations of 8 to 12 inches above 6,000 feet and wind gusts of up to 60 mph.

Stormy conditions are expected to dissipate Tuesday evening, with temperatures again climbing 5 to 10 degrees, according to the NWS. Forecasters said there was a slight chance of rain in Southland from Thursday to Friday.
