Chalmette boys and girls win 8-5A track titles; Clarence Pesnell and Katelyn Wallace each win 3 events | Preparation sports

Clarence Pesnell swept the hurdles and won the long jump to help Chalmette win a boys’ tag team championship in Friday’s District 8-5A Athletics meet at Bobby Nuss Stadium.

Pesnell won the 110-meter hurdles in 16.07 seconds, the 300 hurdles in 44.88 seconds and cleared 20-foot-8 in the long jump.

He also raced in the 4×100 relay team which placed third, good enough to qualify for a regional meet scheduled for Wednesday in Thibodaux.

Other winners of two events were Armani Cargo of John Ehret in the 100 and 200m and Arthur Martin of Riverdale in the 1600 and 3200m.

Other Chalmette winners were Barrett Yoe in the discus, Fox Ducote in the pole vault. The Owls 4×400 and 4×800 relays came first.

Riverdale’s Katelyn Wallace won three events in the girls’ meet placing first in the 100, 200 and long jump.

Chalmette won the Women’s Tag Team Championship with Alyssa Hernandez winning the 1,600 and 3,200m, and Aisja Harris winning the high jump and triple jump. Hernandez ran on the winning 4×800 relay.

Other Chalmette winners were Raven Marrero in the 300 hurdles, Dalli Paige in the 400, Armoni Harris in the discus, Kasey Hughes in the pole vault and Aniya Harris in the shot put.

The top four in all events qualified for the regional meet. The top three regional finalists advance to the state meet scheduled for May 7 in Baton Rouge.
