Rhomberg Rail of Rockhampton has been awarded a $15 million contract to maintain the Carmichael rail network and the Bowen Rail Company (BRC) supply yard.
Based in Bowen, North Queensland, Bowen Rail Company combines cutting-edge technology with smart solutions to transport Queensland’s high-quality resources for export to the world.

BRC chief executive Brendan Lane said the contract would allow Rhomberg to maintain the 200-kilometre railway and Bowen-based rail yard in world-class condition for the next five years.
“Preventive maintenance delivery is critical to the safety and performance of the Carmichael network, so we are delighted to announce Rhomberg as our track maintenance partner,” said Lane.
“Rhomberg is a great example of the kind of expertise Regional Queensland has to offer.
“This contract follows their successful involvement in building our supply fleet and this experience gives them invaluable insight into our business, and we are confident that we are getting a team of qualified and capable people who work to Australian standards. the highest.”
Rhomberg Rail Queensland manager Rod Sweeney said up to 20 skilled workers would be needed to service the contract on peak network maintenance days.
This workforce will be supported by factories and machinery in another win for regional equipment suppliers.
“It’s rare that you can get into the ground floor with a quality company like Bowen Rail Company,” Sweeney said.
“Our employees are excited to continue contributing to BRC’s journey and are motivated to ensure this important investment in infrastructure is properly maintained for the benefit of generations to come. »
