Beyoncé removed a sample of Kelis from her recently released song Energy after the midnight snacks backlash from the singer.
The excerpt from the singer’s 2003 song milkshake can’t be heard on Beyoncé’s fifth song Renaissance album on Tidal and Apple according to Rolling Stone.
However, the criticized track still has a sample of Kelis on the Spotify version according to a report by Weekly entertainment.
It comes after the 42-year-old singer commented on an Instagram fan page which dropped a photo of the singers with the caption, “@Beyonce’s Renaissance album will feature a sample of @kelis on the song ‘Energy'” .
“This is not collaboration, this is theft,” Kelis wrote before adding another comment, “My mind is also blown because the level of disrespect and utter ignorance from all three parties involved is amazing.”
“I heard about it the same way as everyone else. Nothing is ever what it seems, some people in this business have no soul or integrity and they have everyone fooled,” a- she added.
She later posted video statements on the Meta-owned app in response to accusations that she was “jealous” of Beyoncé.
“The reality is that my real beef isn’t JUST with Beyoncé because at the end of the day, she sampled a record, she’s copied me before. She’s done it before, and so have many other artists. It’s okay, I don’t care about that,” she said.
“The problem is that not only are we women artists, okay, black women artists in an industry [where] we are not that many. We met, we know each other, we have common friends. It’s not hard. She can contact, right? » Kelis added
