Bees get back on track with Win over River Cats

August 13, 2022 – Pacific Coast League (PCL) – Salt Lake Bees Press Release

The Salt Lake Bees snapped a three-game losing streak on Friday night with an 8-6 win over the Sacramento River Cats. A four-run rally in the seventh inning ended up being the difference as the Bees broke the three-run mark for the first time since Tuesday night.

Orlando Martinez went 1 for 3 with a two RBI double, which ended up being the only extra hit of the night for Salt Lake. Kyle Kasser extended his hitting streak to eight games with a single in the second inning and Dillon Thomas hit base twice to extend his on-base streak to 16 games. Kyle Barraclough took the win on the mound, his fourth of the season, and Ty Buttrey made his second save of the season.

The Bees found themselves in a 4-0 hole after the first inning, but made their first four-run run of the night late in the second. Kasser, Anthony Mulrine and Michael Stefanic were each credited with an RBI in the inning.

The game remained tied at 4-4 for the next five innings until the Bees secured another four spots in the seventh inning. Thomas opened the scoring with a goal-laden walk and Martinez made it 8-4 with his RBI brace.

Sacramento scored two runs in the top of the eighth, but Brian Moran and Buttrey shut the door the rest of the way to secure the win at Salt Lake.

Game 5 of the series is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. tomorrow night.
