‘A’ rated restaurant shares tips for tracking inspection ratings and staying restaurant safe

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – As the Secret of Siam Thai restaurant reopened on Wednesday after several customers reported falling ill at the restaurant, 8 News Now spoke to another local establishment about the importance of health and food cleanliness.

With every sizzle, pop and delicious smell, it was easy to tell that the kitchen at Ristorante de Gaetano is clean.

“Good quality food,” said owner Nick Palmeri. “Good quality service. »

Gaetano’s is a great place to get great healthy meals, thanks to Palmeri’s attention to detail.

“This business is very important to me,” he said. “And my employees.”

The Henderson facility has achieved a stable “A” health rating for decades, largely due to its efforts to follow health district guidelines.

“Every day you have to feel, you have to have that urgency,” Palmeri explained. “Let the health department introduce themselves.”

8 News Now asked how people can tell if their favorite places to eat are doing what they should.

The Southern Nevada Health District conducts random inspections of restaurants and bars every six months to a year. They then post the results with an “A” to “C” grade online.

“It goes from the back of the house to the front of the house,” Palmeri said. “The presentation of the dishes and the staff you have.

He told 8 News Now it’s a great way to know where your food comes from, to protect yourself and those you’re with.

“If you can give someone a real experience to enjoy their meal and make them feel safe,” Palmeri concluded. “This is the icing on the cake.”

Palmeri said it’s also important to be observant in a restaurant — if tables, floors and even bathrooms aren’t clean, the kitchen is most likely dirty, too.
